The Avengers star, who has two brothers, revealed that he spent a lot of time with his mother as a kid and was a "chatty" child.
"My mum always used to say to me that, out of her three boys, 'Chris, you were the girl'," Hemsworth joked in a new interview with OUT.
"I'd speak to her about far more things than [my brothers] would and far more things than she needed to hear about, too. I was a chatty kid."
Hemsworth, who grew up in Australia and starred in soap opera Home and Away from 2003 until 2007, went on to say that he was happy to begin his acting career in the country as it allowed him to find his footing before moving on to Hollywood.
"I was able to make mistakes, and no-one gave a s**t about me," he explained. "You come to America, and, if you do a big TV show, then you can be overexposed, or old, before you're new. You get the positives from an Australian soap without the negatives."
