The presenter, who will host the new season of NBC's Love In The Wild, has been linked to NFL player Brian Urlacher recently.
"I haven't made too many comments other than the fact that I'm taking baby steps," McCarthy told Parade. "We'll see. But I'm giddy right now."
McCarthy, who split from Jim Carrey in 2010, revealed that she is looking for "a nice guy through and through" and explained that she has some tricks for judging someone's personality.
"You can really tell from talking to the person's friends," she said. "I always have two secrets I use: one is watching them with the service industry people and the other is going on an overnight weekend trip... You break the mould of your fake self and over 72 hours you have to act natural somewhere. Those are my two litmus test things.
"Being from Chicago and trying to date in LA, it was hard. I'm just happy to see where I'll go from here."
However, McCarthy suggested that she is not sure whether she will wed again, saying that getting married is the "craziest thing" she's done for love.
"I think it's crazy," she said. "I think it's crazy, crazy, crazy. I'm never going to say I wouldn't do it again, but I have to make sure it's love and not settling for the, 'I have to do this by a certain age', which is kind of what I did."
Love In The Wild premieres on June 7 on NBC.
