Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William attended the rather damp premiere of African Cats at the BFI on London's South Bank yesterday (April 25).

The royal couple, who will celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary this Sunday, made their first public outing since William's deployment to the Falklands.

Catherine wore a £1,000 Matthew Williamson dress to the documentary about the big cats of the Kenyan savannah narrated by Hollywood actor Patrick Stewart, with a clutch and pair of shoes by British designer Emmy.

Prince William, carrying a brolly to keep the Duchess dry, is a patron of the charity Tusk Trust, in which the film was in aid of and he also famously proposed to the Duchess during a romantic break in Kenya.

The royal pair were joined at the premiere by director Guy Ritchie and girlfriend Jacqui Ainsley.
