Paul Danan's bid to resurrect his acting career has been jeopardised, after he left the cast of his new play before it even opened.

The Love Island Lothario blamed "an ongoing heavy workload" for his departure from the revival of Brad Fraser's Love and Human Remains, according to a report in The Stage today.

Producer Monique Constance Briggs was quoted as saying: "Paul could not commit to the heavy rehearsal schedule that a show of this calibre demands and it is in the show’s best interest that the part be re-cast in order to deliver a production worthy of this great play."

Before hitting the reality tv circuit, Danan portrayed Sol Patrick in Channel 4's teen soap Hollyoaks for four years until 2001.

In 2005, Danan became notorious for his aggressive behaviour on the first series of ITV's Celebrity Love Island. He subsequently presented Test Drive My Girlfriend on ITV2, before returning this summer for another stint as a contestant on the renamed ITV reality show.
