Alanis Morissette has revealed that she will continue breastfeeding until she believes her son is ready to stop.

Morissette was responding to the recent controversial cover of Time which featured a toddler breastfeeding, Us Weekly reports.

Speaking about her 16-month-old son Ever on The Billy Bush Show, the singer explained that she has no plans to stop breastfeeding immediately.

"I'll breastfeed and I'll be breastfeeding until my son is finished and he weans," she said. "I think it affords the child, when he grows up, to have a lot less therapy to go to. For me, I protect his safety and his well-being and his attachment. That stage of development is a very important stage."

Morissette also revealed that she often lets her son sleep in her bed, saying: "We're definitely skin-on-skin connected as much as possible."

Morisette's new single 'Guardian' debuted online earlier this month.
