Sir Paul McCartney has made his intention clear to defend himself against claims made by his estranged wife that he was abusive to her during their marriage.
In papers submitted to court, Heather Mills alleged that the former Beatle physically attacked her on more than one occasion.
"Our client is saddened by the breakdown of his marriage and requests that his family is allowed to conduct their personal affairs out of the media spotlight for the sake of everybody involved," read a statement issued by McCartney's lawyers.
It continued to say that he would "very much like to respond in public and in detail. But he recognises, on advice, that the only correct forum for his response... is in the current divorce proceedings."
