The 71-year-old actress, who played Plenty O'Toole in 1971 film Diamonds are Forever, was cooking dinner at her home in California on Tuesday (May 22) when she started coughing, according to TMZ.
Wood was said to have then gone into anaphylactic shock, with her face and tongue swelling, leaving her unable to breathe.
She was first transported to a local medical facility and then transferred to a hospital, where she was discharged a few hours later.
The younger sister of Hollywood star Natalie Wood is now said to be recovering well at home.
Doctors have reportedly suggested that the attack was triggered by an ingredient in breakfast cereal Frosted Mini-Wheats.
