One Direction surrounded by fans during an appearance in France
One Direction were enjoying a day off in Manhattan when hundreds of teenage fans descended upon them. According to Press Party, fans pulled on band members' clothes and hair as they were shuffled towards cars by security.
This is not the first time that One Direction have been mobbed by their predominantly female fanbase.

Since rising to fame on the X Factor, they have had to contest with fans mobbing them at airports and even at their homes.
Horan and Payne seemed particularly shaken by the incident, with Payne tweeting: "That wasn't even funny," and Horan writing: "This is a complete joke... ridic... Day off, wana chill (sic)".
Horan later seemed to have calmed, despite fans still being camped outside the group's New York hotel.
"Love all you mofo's... can hear u singing outside the hotel," he added.
