Brosnan, Cameron rewarded for ocean work

Pierce Brosnan and James Cameron are to be given awards for attempting to protect the world's oceans.

Former James Bond star Brosnan and Titanic director Cameron will be honoured at the Oceana Partners Awards Gala in Beverly Hills on November 9, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The ceremony has been designed to honour those "who have made outstanding contributions through their personal commitment to the cause of protecting our oceans".

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis will present the award to Cameron, who has highlighted the beauty of the oceans with several underwater documentaries. Brosnan will pick up the award with wife Keely Shaye Smith from Universal Studios president Ron Meyer.

Famous names from the entertainment industry who have received accolades in the past include actors Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson plus director Ron Howard.
