The legendary comedian collapsed due to low blood sugar on Tuesday just prior to when he was to give Tom Cruise a special Friar's Club award.
Doctors required him to spend two days in a local medical centre to undergo a number of tests.
Lewis's spokesperson has now confirmed to Page Six that he has been "released from the hospital, and... [is] getting ready to return to work".
He is currently signed to direct a musical version of The Nutty Professor, which will premiere in Nashville before moving to Broadway.
Lewis previously suffered a health scare last summer, when he was hospitalised for exhaustion in Sydney. The star was back working within days.
