A former NYPD Blue writer has been arrested for killing his poodle.
Ted Shuttleworth punched the dog in the face after he became angry with the animal, causing a severe brain injury that ultimately killed the pet, according to the New York Post.
"Lola sustained a traumatic brain injury secondary to the application of blunt force to the right side of her head at the hands of the suspect, her owner," ASPCA spokesman Joseph Pentangelo said.
Shuttleworth may face up to a year in prison on charges of animal cruelty.
However, his wife insisted that the incident was a "horrible accident".
Shuttleworth has worked for Steven Spielberg and currently makes his living reading scripts.
