He's the man behind Victoria Beckham's pob, Leona Lewis's fishtail plait, Amanda Holden's chop and Sarah Harding's revamp - so when we wanted someone to offer their tips for Digital Spy readers, the award-winning Ben Cooke was the only man for the job.

Super-Stylish Summer Trends

This summer sees an impressive array of looks ranging from modern minimalism to eye-catching, extreme dos. The minimalist styles include chunky equestrian braids whilst, the high-impact hairstyles include high, slick, modern ponytails to matte, grungy tresses. Check out my top summer styles and simple steps to achieve these on-trend looks.

First up is the Equestrian Braid, which channels femininity and elegance as seen at Ashish S/S 2012.

This look will really suit those with long luscious locks, but ensure you get your tresses super-smooth before plaiting. Prep clean, damp hair with Sebastian Professional Potion 9 Lite, then blowdry using a boar bristle brush to ensure a super-smooth base to begin your styling. Pull hair back into a sleek ponytail, securing just above the nape of the neck with a clear elastic.

Ensure the front of the hair is super-sleek by neatening with a fine-tooth comb and plenty of Sebastian Professional Shine Define Spray. Take the ponytail and split into three sections. Backcomb each section through the entire length for added texture and thickness. Carefully smooth over with the Lockonego Signature Wooden Paddle Brush and work Sebastian Professional Texturizer into the ends for extra hold with a mattified finish.

Evenly plait the ponytail making sure to not lose the volume, and secure at the end with a clear elastic. Push the ponytail over one shoulder for a feminine and elegant touch.

Secondly is the towering, sleek yet swishable ponytail, which has been sported by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Sandra Bullock. This perfect on-trend evening updo is a sexy, versatile style.

Start by washing your hair with a smoothing shampoo and conditioner like Sebastian Professional Drench, which nourishes hair leaving it sleek and silky. Next, blow dry hair in sections applying Sebastian Professional Liquid Gloss to damp hair to enhance shine, eliminate frizz and promote manageability. If your hair is wavy or curly, spend time flat ironing dry hair to smooth any flyaways, giving you über-glossy locks.

Lightly spritz hair with Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce Hairspray, £12.75, for a secure hold. Using a wooden paddle brush, sweep the hair high on to the back of your head brushing the hair downwards. Wrap a hair band tightly around the ponytail, ensuring that no bumps are left. Finally, lightly spritz hair with Sebastian Professional Halo Mist for incredible shine.

Finally check out the hottest colour trend this summer from Lockonego's Colour Specialist Paul Bingham. The Caramel Smudge channels a laid-back, grungy vibe which have been seen on fashionista Whitney Port.

Cooke advises: "This is an incredibly quick and versatile technique called 'Clever Colour'. It works with almost every hair colour and length for an effortless, natural and grown out finish. The technique involves backcombing triangular sections of hair all over the head, before applying colour underneath and over the top of the sections, leaving the inner area of the triangle colour-free.

"The result is a fantastic seamless finish with a 'beachy' and textured effect that's grungy-cool. Better yet, it requires very little maintenance as any re-growth will blend in with the colour effect, meaning you can go months without needing to re-touch."
