Alex Trebek, host of the ABC quiz show Jeopardy!, has been hospitalised after a mild heart attack on Saturday (June 23).

The Wrap reports that Trebek is currently under observation at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

Sony Pictures Entertainment, which produces Jeopardy!, released a statement saying that Trebek is expected to make a full recovery and is in good spirits.

The studio adds that Trebek will be ready to begin filming the 29th season of Jeopardy! in July.

The 71-year-old presenter has been host of the popular game show since 1984.

Trebek previously suffered a minor heart attack in 2007, and recently injured his leg while chasing a burglar from his home.
