Beyoncé and Jay-Z's daughter Blue Ivy has become an honorary citizen of the Croatian island of Hvar.

Prior to the birth of Blue Ivy, Beyonce settled on her name after she and her husband Jay-Z spotted a tree with blue colour while on a vacation on Hvar.

"We woke up this morning, took a nice little walk, passed by this beautiful blue tree," Beyonce said in her personal video on her blog. "I think it's Blue Ivy, which would be quite appropriate!"

Interest in the island apparently has increased after Beyonce's video was released, reports Ace Showbiz.

Hvar's Major Pjerino Bebic shared in a letter to the Knowles-Carter family: "The story of the origin of the name of your daughter has brought enormous media attention and therefore tourist promotion to the town and island of Hvar.

"Because of this, I have decided to confer on your daughter the status of honourary citizen of the town of Hvar."

Blue Ivy was born on January 2012, after which photos of the family after her birth were released through Tumblr.
