The Bajan popstar's relative Clara 'Dolly' Brathwaite passed away on Saturday (June 30) after a battle with cancer, and Rihanna has since tweeted about her loss, also posting several pictures of the pair together.
Brown also took to Twitter today (July 1) to pay tribute to Brathwaite, writing: "Praying for family and the lost loved one. She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP."
The 'Don't Wake Me Up' singer's mother Joyce Hawkins also directed a tweet to Rihanna, saying: "@rihanna ANGEL MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN YOUR TIME OF SORROW. LOVE YOU ANGEL (sic)."
Rihanna was criticised for her "lacklustre" performance at Saturday's Peace and Love festival in Sweden. She headlined the event before news of Brathwaite's death became public.
The 'Where Have You Been' star had previously unfollowed her ex-boyfriend on Twitter in May, after he seemingly slated her in a freestyle version of Kanye West's track 'Cold'. However, Brown later denied that he had intended to insult her in the song.
