The Mission: Impossible star was apparently "blindsided" last week when Holmes filed for divorce in New York.

According to WENN, Cruise flew home this morning (July 3) to the couple's Beverly Hills estate from Iceland, where he is currently shooting the upcoming thriller Oblivion.
He was reportedly spotted boarding a private jet at the Reykjavik airport on a flight bound for California.
Cruise's original birthday plans had included a romantic day alone with Holmes in Iceland.
The actor was previously quoted as saying: "We'll be in Iceland on the actual day. We like hiking, and so we'll have some nice hikes."
Holmes was recently spotted in New York without her wedding band. She is currently pursuing sole custody of the couple's 6-year-old daughter Suri.
