Police officially reopened Wood's case last November after the captain of her boat admitted that he hadn't told the truth during the initial investigation.

A LAPD spokesperson provided an update in January when he announced that Wood's death was still being considered an accident, but the case would remain open.

Last week, police officially changed Wood's cause of death from "accident" to "undetermined" following an examination of bruises on Wood's body.

The change was due to an alleged mistake by LA County Coroner Thomas Noguchi, who some have accused of rushing to his conclusion that the death was an accident.

Police sources told TMZ that they are simply following protocol by switching the cause of death to "undetermined" to comply with further examination of Wood's bruising.

The law enforcement insiders said that there is "certainly no evidence" leading to a particular suspect and stressed that Wood's husband Robert Wagner is not being implicated in the star's death.

An investigation into Wood's death remains ongoing.

Hollywood icon Wood starred in numerous classic films, including Miracle on 34th Street, The Searchers, West Side Story and Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice.
