Despite a turbulent couple of weeks for Katie Holmes, she has been pictured out and about having some relaxing girly time with her daughter.

With rumours circulating about details of the Holmes/Cruise settlement we cut the fiction and give you ten fast facts on Holmes's life.

And not a word about the D.I.V.O.R.C.E.

1. Holmes turned down her first audition for Dawson's Creek because she was appearing in school play Damn Yankees. But luckily Kevin Williamson rescheduled and Joey Potter as we know her was born.

2. She was accepted to Columbia University, but deferred her enrolment so that she could take the part of Joey.

3. Holmes had a brief romance with Joshua Jackson, who played Pacey Witter in Dawson's Creek. She considers Jackson her "first love". Aah.

4. Holmes was engaged to American Pie actor Chris Klein, but they found their relationship hard. "We don't see each other as much as we'd like," Klein admitted to People at the time. They ended their five-year relationship in 2005 and (very) shortly after, Holmes started dating Cruise. They (very) quickly became engaged a couple of months later.

5. In 2007, Holmes ran the 26.2 miles of the New York Marathon in 5 hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds. She reportedly loves to run two or three miles a couple of times a week to clear her head.

6. She auditioned for the role of Buffy Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but was considered too young for the role. Yet when she auditioned for the role of Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera she was considered too old!

7. A Holmes sex scene in Thank You For Smoking was mysteriously cut on its first screening at Sundance, much to the writer/director's surprise. "We were sitting there in shock," Jason Reitman told the LA Times at the time. There were rumours that Mr Cruise had something to do with it, but it later emerged that the reel had just been miscut and it was swiftly restored for subsequent screenings.

8. After the birth of Suri, Cruise and Holmes managed to keep their daughter under wraps for months leading to strangely fevered media speculation. Did she have three heads? Was she an alien? etc. Apparently TomKat had simply not got round to sending out a photo to all the strangers who work for newspapers.

9. Holmes played Jackie Kennedy in miniseries The Kennedys but the History Channel pulled it before it aired, claiming that "this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand". It was passed around for a while before ReelzChannel took the risk of picking it up.

10. Oh, OK, we've held out long enough with the gory divorce details. One supposed insider told RadarOnline: "Under terms of the settlement, Suri isn't permitted to be exposed to anything Scientology-related, and this includes going to any Scientology churches, parties, etc. Katie made sure that this was ironclad in the agreement." Holmes's attorney has naturally slammed many of the reports in the media as being wildly inaccurate.
