The 'Call Me Maybe' singer reportedly filed a police report several months ago after learning that apparent racy images of herself may have been stolen from her computer.
A Vancouver police spokesperson has now confirmed that an investigation is underway "in regards to a theft of electronic property belonging to Jepsen", reports TMZ.
Law enforcement are reportedly close to identifying a suspect, but declined to reveal more information at this time. The suspect could face criminal harassment and unauthorized computer access charges.
The case is not at all connected to reports of an alleged sex tape featuring Jepsen which hit the media earlier in the week.
Jepsen later insisted that the sex tape rumours are "ridiculous" and deemed the footage fake.
Purported nude images of the musician also circulated on the internet earlier this year, but it later emerged that the photographs actually featured model Destiny Benedict.
