The British comedian was facing a charge of misdemeanour criminal damage to property in relation to an incident involving a paparazzo's phone back in March.
His lawyer pleaded not guilty on his behalf in New Orleans, with both sides later agreeing a deal.
The case will be dismissed if Brand pays $500 in court fees and takes part in 20 hours of community service by August 31, reports TMZ.
Brand was at one point facing up to six months in prison if convicted of all charges.
The actor's attorney said that his client will complete his community service by working with people fighting addiction.
Russell Brand recently said that he hopes to become an official marriage officiant in the future.
