The 'Step In the Name of Love' singer recently unveiled Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me, an autobiography which he hopes will finally give listeners a glimpse into the man behind the music.
"Well, no better time than now. Everybody knows me musically and R Kelly writes songs and I've done the award shows and everything. [But] I felt it was time for them to know me personally, you know?" R Kelly explained to MTV News.
"I'm a guy that spends a lot of time in the studio... and I just never really in my career, during my whole career, got into doing a lot of press. I'm ready to do it now."
Soulacoaster discusses R Kelly's life and music, including the breakdown of his marriage, which he claimed happened after a viewing of The Notebook.
Last month, he was forced to cancel appearances due to a health scare which temporarily sidelined him.
