The legendary soul singer told WCBS-FM that she felt ill before a concert in Asbury, NJ last weekend, but took an aspirin and performed the gig anyway.
Love was only hospitalised the next morning, when her husband Alton insisted that she seek medical help as her condition worsened.
"We caught it before it got bad and I went in and had the procedure done," the musician revealed.
Love spent two days in the hospital, but she is now recuperating at her home.
"I'm home… and doing fine," the former Crystals star said.
Love is known for a string of hits in the 1960s, including 'He's a Rebel', 'He's Sure the Boy I Love' and 'Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah'.
She famously joins David Letterman on The Late Show every year to sing the holiday favourite 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' and was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
