By and Jamie Harris
After seven years of hype and build-up, London 2012 finally arrived on July 27 at the Olympic Park, Stratford.

Danny Boyle's spectacular Opening Ceremony and the lighting of the Olympic Flame were some of the highlights from an evening of music, culture and dance.

The 'Isles Of Wonder' show, which featured stars such as David Beckham, Daniel Craig, Kenneth Branagh and Sir Paul McCartney, is being shown around the world to an estimated TV audience of over 1 billion viewers.

Rumoured to have cost £27 million to put on, no expense was spared in Boyle's show, which celebrated the best of British music, sport and movies.

The Olympics Closing Ceremony on August 12 is expected to focus more on musical acts with Take That, The Who, George Michael and Jessie J all lined up to play the show.
