Blaine begins gyroscope stunt

David Blaine has begun his latest stunt, in which he is bound and suspended above Time Square.
Blaine will spend 48 hours in a gyroscope above the square, before attempting to free himself from his chains by Friday morning. The stunt is for charity, with 100 children to be given a $500 gift certificate if he is successful. The deserving children will be chosen by the Salvation Army.
Speaking just before he was shackled, the illusionist claimed the only worry he had was relating to the weather: "There is that slight worry of hypothermia but it shouldn't happen. By hour 48 this is going to be really interesting."
