The actress – who played chef Julia Child in Julie & Julia - apparently chopped her hand while slicing avocado at her Connecticut home.

Streep sought help from a local doctor, who performed a minor surgery to repair the wound.
"They gave me [a huge] bandage. And of course I took it right off when I got home. But now, I think I'll put it back on," Streep said on Sunday (August 5), reports Showbiz 411.
Streep revealed the injury at a Q&A in New York City, which was also attended by her Hope Springs co-stars Tommy Lee Jones and Steve Carell.
Jones and Streep star in Hope Springs as an ageing couple who try to spice up their marriage with the help of an unconventional therapist (Carell).
Hope Springs opens on Wednesday (August 8) in the US and September 14 in the UK.
