Creed's Scott Stapp has inked a deal to write a tell-all memoir.

The 'With Arms Wide Open' singer will detail his band's early history as well as his descent into alcohol addiction in Sinner's Creed.

Publisher Tyndale has promised that Sinner's Creed will address "behind-the-scenes realities about his suicide attempts, alcohol-induced rampages and intimate details about his abusive childhood".

Stapp also promised to be totally honest about his difficulties coping with stardom.

"My memoir reveals never-before-released details about my life and the challenges I've faced before coming to grips and finding sobriety," the musician explained.

Sinner's Creed is released on October 2.

Creed scored a pair of US number one albums in 1999 and 2001, but personal problems led to a split in 2004.

Stapp regrouped with Creed in 2009 for the album Full Circle, which sold more than 500,000 copies.
