After a tough year under the media's glare, Team GB's poster boy Tom Daley delivered by bringing home a bronze medal.

A diver and now a household name in British sport, Daley has achieved an incredible amount of success for a sportsman who has only just completed his A-Levels.

A recent documentary and book release mean people know a lot about Tom already but for anyone who doesn't, here are ten facts to fill you in.

1. Tom was born Thomas Robert Daley on May 21, 1994 in Plymouth, England to parents Rob and Debbie Daley. He has two younger brothers, William and Ben.

2. Daley persuaded supermodel Kate Moss to take part in his GCSE photography project after meeting her on the set of Italian Vogue. She posed in a recreation of a famous painting by the artist David Hockney. He received an A* for the work alongside another 8 A*'s and 1 A grade in his other subjects.

3. Daley became the youngest British competitor at the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. At the age of 14 he was the youngest competitor in the games outside of swimming. He placed 7th in the individual 10m competition.

4. Tom lost his father Rob to cancer last year. Rob was a huge supporter of Tom's diving career and Tom said after his bronze medal win: "I know if he was here he'd be very proud."

5. Daley is the most-followed member of Team GB on Twitter with over 1.5 million followers. During the recent games his popularity saw him gain more than 800,000 followers. He also became embroiled in a Twitter scandal when he was sent vicious tweets after failing to win a medal in the Synchronised 10m Platform competition. The culprit was later arrested.

6. Tom has recently promised to teach popstar and former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole how to dive. The 'Call My Name' singer tweeted: "@tomdaley1994 I think you are amazing! Will you teach me how to swan dive?" He replied: "@cherylcole Of course!!! But first you need to follow me ;)"

7. Daley's 'Sexy And I Know It' spoof has recorded over 2.4 million hits on YouTube since being uploaded earlier this year.

8. Tom has revealed he wants to be TV presenter after his diving career. He says he would either like to be a sports or children's television host.

9. He is the only sportsman to win the BBC 'Young Sports Personality of the Year' award more than once. He won the prize in 2007, 2009 and 2010. He has also been shortlisted for the adult prize on two occasions in 2009 and 2010.

10. Tom lost a stone in weight in the lead-up to the London 2012 games after British diving performance director Alexei Evangulov told him that he needed to lose weight to perform to his full potential at the Olympics.
