Madonna is reportedly considering a permanent move to Italy.

Italian media have stated that the 'Frozen' singer is looking into different luxury villas in Rome, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The star is said to be choosing between a villa on Aventine Hill or a penthouse apartment in the neighbourhood designed by 20th century architect Gino Coppede.

Madonna has consistently had connections with Italy, the country of her ancestors. She has previously donated $500,000 to the victims of the 2009 Abruzzo earthquake, and has in the past been critical of Italian politicians, including former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

However, she has been criticised on several occasions by the Vatican, most famously for her "blasphemous" 1989 video for 'Like a Prayer'.

She most recently received negative publicity after she flashed her buttocks at a concert in Rome.

Madonna was this week sued for around $10.5m (£6.6m) by Russian activists after she promoted gay rights at a show in St Petersburg.
