"Prince Harry has been the subject of criticism before, with previous controversies including his decision to wear a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party," said DS editor David Moynihan.
"But in this 'new patriotism' era, post-Jubilee and whilst Britain is still basking in the stunning success of the London Olympics, it would seem the public are happy to accept that even the royals are allowed some fun."
He added: "It's probably fair to say that Harry gets away with these occasional antics as his brother Prince William and wife Kate are so impeccably behaved.
"But it's also clear that the majority of the British public are enthused with pride for their nation and its royal family at the moment - this is the British Summer of Fun."
