The Top Gun director was found dead on August 19 after leaping to his death off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California.
Scott is said to have left behind a suicide note, but an insider has now claimed that the message simply expresses his love for his wife and children.
The informant also described the note as "short and sweet", according to TMZ.
Scott was initially reported in the hours after his death to have suffered from an inoperable brain tumour.
His family later denied those reports, insisting that Scott had no known medical issues recently.
Scott had an esteemed career in Hollywood over five decades, in which he directed the hit films Days of Thunder, Crimson Tide and Man on Fire. He most recently produced his brother Ridley Scott's film Prometheus.
Tony was 68 years old at the time of his death.
