Socialite Nicole Richie is shamed by animal rights group PETA after wearing fur in public on a number of occasions.

The welfare group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals released a statement regarding Richie and other female celebrities who have been spotted wearing fur apparel.

According to The Sun, a spokesperson for PETA said, "This pelt wearing party girl is all animal skin and bones. Nicole's an incredible shrinking woman with the heart to match."

They went on to discuss the likes of Ashley Olsen, saying: "Wearing fur does add 20 pounds. But if Ashley wants to fill out her frame we suggest using a fork instead."

However, Paris Hilton managed to avoid being included in this year's list after topping it in 2005.

The hotel heiress reportedly stopped wearing fur after seeing a PETA video and there are rumours that the group may ask her to front their 'Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur' campaign.
