Gallagher brands brother an "icon"

Noel Gallagher has branded brother Liam an "icon", in a rare compliment.

The Oasis guitarist is often heard moaning about his brother's laziness and attitude to life, but Gallagher told Zane Lowe that Liam has earned his status in the music scene: "I guess if you think of the '90s, you think of Liam. I guess he’s probably the biggest icon of the 90s."

Turning his attention to the modern music industry, Gallagher said he felt there were no outstanding acts at the current time, although he showed his respect for a number of artists: "Kasabian have got some fucking great tunes, The Kings Of Leon have got some good tunes. The Kooks have some good tunes. Franz Ferdinand, The Libertines, Babyshambes, but I’m not sure whether there is one band: in the 90s you had Oasis."
