The Dirty Harry star - and ex-mayor of Carmel, CA - made a surprise appearance on the final night of the convention on Thursday (August 30) to officially endorse Mitt Romney.
Eastwood's address drew mixed reviews, especially the section where he 'debated' with an empty stool which was supposed to represent US President Barack Obama.
Former View co-host and current Today analyst Star Jones was one of the many stars who reacted to Eastwood's speech on Twitter.
Jones accused the actor of hurting his legacy by appearing to ramble, writing: "I can't believe I just watched #ClintEastwood turn into somebody's DRUNK UNCLE HARRY on the stage of the #GOP #RNC. He humiliated himself.
"On the most important day of #MittRomney career...he allows 80 year old #DirtyHarry to "ad lib." Oh yeah, I want that genius as #POTUS."
Jones went on to chide Republican officials for even inviting Eastwood to attend the convention
She wrote: "Admittedly, I'm a #Democrat...but for the life of me, I don't understand what the #GOP was thinking having #ClintEastwood on that stage.
"On the night he becomes #GOP nominee for #POTUS...#MittRomney lets a daffy delusional #ClintEastwood be the main topic coming out of #RNC."
The Obama campaign humorously responded to Eastwood comparing the leader to an empty stool by tweeting an image of the president sitting in a chair, along with the caption: "This seat's taken."
