According to a Vanity Fair article, Boniadi was selected after revealing "her innermost secrets and every detail of her sex life" to a Scientology official in a month-log preparation for meeting Cruise.
However, their romance allegedly finished in January 2005 when Boniadi was deemed to have offended Cruise and another high-ranking member of the Church.
The reports also claimed that she was later punished by Scientology officials for relating the story to a friend.
Responding to the story, a spokesperson for Cruise simply told Gossip Cop: "Lies in a different font are still lies - designed to sell magazines."
It had previously been speculated that Holmes, who reached a divorcement settlement with Cruise in July, was also part of an audition process.
