'Happy Endings' star Elisha Cuthbert engaged to Dion Phaneuf

Elisha Cuthbert has got engaged to her long-time boyfriend Dion Phaneuf.

The Happy Endings actress revealed on Twitter on Sunday (September 2) that her Toronto Maple Leafs hockey star beau had popped the question over the weekend.

"Happily, happily, happily, happily engaged! This has been the most amazing weekend ever," Cuthbert tweeted.

Phaneuf apparently proposed during a surprise party at the New Glasgow Lobster restaurant in Prince Edward Island, Canada group.

A message on the New Glasgow Lobert's Twitter feed reads: "Last night we had the privilege of hosting a surprise engagement party for Dion Phaneuf and Elisha Cuthbert. Congrats to them both."

Cuthbert - who famously starred as Kim Bauer in 24 - has dated Phaneuf since 2008.

Her current series Happy Endings kicks off its new season on Tuesday, October 23 at 9/8c on ABC.
