The Green Mile actor died on September 3, just two months after suffering a serious heart attack from which he never recovered.
Fans, friends and family of the late star gathered yesterday at Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood Hills to pay tribute to his life and legacy.
Clips from Duncan's award-winning career were shown during the ceremony, with fans also eulogising the 54-year-old.
Duncan's close friends and family will also hold a private funeral later today (September 10) in Hollywood.
The Oscar nominee's death drew tributes from stars including Tom Hanks, Olivia Munn, Gary Sinise, Robert Rodriguez, Sherri Shepherd and Roger Ebert.
Duncan is survived by his partner Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth.
