Jason Luis Rivera was taken into custody on Saturday morning (September 8) when he was found at the singer's Los Angeles house, reportedly armed with a pair of scissors.
He has been reprimanded for the act of threatening danger by intruding on Cyrus's property and also running from police after a 911 call was made, according to TMZ.
The Los Angeles City Attorney says Rivera allegedly resisted arrest while being led away by the law enforcement officers, claiming that he knew Cyrus and that he had once been married to her.
The 19-year-old singer and actress was not at home at the time of the incident.
Rivera pleaded not guilty to trespassing and resisting arrest, and a judge set his bail at $100,000 (£62,507).
He has been ordered to stay 500 yards away from Cyrus, as well as the gated community where she lives.
Rivera's next court date appearance will be on September 17, and he currently remains in custody.
