Britney Spears justifies wild lifestyle

Britney Spears has responded to accusations that her social life is out of control by posting a message on her official website that seeks to justify her actions.

"It's been so long since I've been out on the town with friends," wrote the singer, who recently split from husband Kevin Federline. "It's also been two years since I've even celebrated my birthday. Every move I make at this point has been magnified more than I expected, and I probably did take my new found freedom a bit too far."

In reference to the paparazzi shots last week that demonstrated her fondness for going 'commando', she joked: "Thank God for Victoria Secrets' new underwear line!"
