Yoko Ono has said that she is not yet ready to forgive the man who killed her husband John Lennon.
Despite this, she called for the anniversary of her husband's death to become a worldwide day of forgiveness.
According to Reuters, Ono said "Every year, let's make December 8 the day to ask for forgiveness from those who suffered the insufferable.
"To the people who have also lost loved ones without cause: forgive us for having been unable to stop the tragedy."
However, she went to say: "As the widow of one who was killed by an act of violence, I don't know if I am ready yet to forgive the one who pulled the trigger."
Mark Chapman, the obsessed Beatles fan who shot and killed Lennon outside his New York apartment in 1980 remains in prison, and was denied parole for a fourth time earlier this year.
