Angelina Jolie visits Iraq on behalf of Syrian refugees

Angelina Jolie went on a special trip to Iraq on Saturday (September 15) on behalf of Syrian refugees.

The Changeling actress, in conjunction with the UN, travelled to Baghdad to meet with political officials.

According to Pop Sugar, Jolie has spoken with leaders in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon, and has visited a refugee camp.

In Baghdad she spoke with Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari at his office, asking Iraq to host Syrian refugees who have been forced to leave their home country in the wake of recent violence.

Jolie was a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for over a decade.

In April 2012, she was promoted to the role of Special Envoy to High Commissioner António Guterres.
