The actress was stopped while driving in Burbank, California on Sunday (September 16), according to TMZ.
Bynes had her black BMW impounded by the officers and was also issued with a misdemeanor ticket for driving while her licence is suspended.
Victor Gill, a spokesperson for the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, later told People: "I can confirm that Amanda Bynes was cited at approximately 8.20am Sunday for driving with a suspended license. Her car was impounded and she received a misdemeanor citation.
"She was not arrested. I believe she was by herself. This occurred on Hollywood Way, just south of the main entrance to the Bob Hope Airport."
Los Angeles prosecutors confirmed last week that Bynes's licence has been suspended, as a number of her alleged driving offences are investigated.
Bynes was charged on June 5 with driving under the influence and has entered a not guilty plea. She declined to submit to a breath test at the time of her arrest.
The What I Like About You star also faces two misdemeanor hit-and-run charges for separate incidents in April and August of this year.
