Alexandra Burke, Gareth Gates join Virgin London Triathlon - pictures

Back in July when Sir Richard Branson announced the celebrities taking part in his 2012 Virgin Active London Triathlon, London had yet to be hit by Olympic fever. Now weeks after Team GB blitzed the medal table, Sir Richard and his team were more motivated than ever to get the 'Be Your Personal Best' message across.

Branson was joined by his daughter Holly and son Sam, as well as a whole host of celebrities including Alexandra Burke, Lydia Bright and Gareth Gates.

Gathering at the Excel Centre London, the team put on their finest sportswear and prepared to sprint, cycle and swim through the cordoned-off streets of London.
