Paul O'Grady to be a grandfather

Paul O'Grady will become a grandfather on Christmas Day, according to an announcement made by the chat show host yesterday.

The 51-year-old told viewers of his Chanel 4 programme that his daughter Sharyn is due to give birth at the heart of the festive season. "I'm going to be a glamorous grandad!" grinned the Lily Savage star. "I was a bit scared about the whole idea because I thought it would make me feel a bit old but I'm over the moon."

O'Grady is openly gay, but fathered a daughter aged 19 with a work colleague ten years his senior during a stint as a clerk in a magistrates' court.
