Rapper P Diddy has become the father of twins after his wife Kim Porter gave birth to two baby girls in New York.

P Diddy apparently flew to the hospital in Manhattan from Toronto where he was filming his new movie Raisin in the Sun.

His publicist, Robert Zimmerman, said that Diddy made it to Porter's bedside "just in the nick of time for the delivery".

Both children were named after their great-grandmothers, the eldest named D'Lila Star and the younger daughter was given the name Jesse James.

Mr. Zimmerman reported, "Both Kim and the girls are doing great."
