Spears' partner: I'm a good influence

Britney Spears' rumoured new partner has claimed he is a good influence on the erratic star.

Music producer JR Rotem, who has been spotted out with the singer since her split from Kevin Federline, said the relationship was going well in an interview with US magazine In Touch.

He said they had been enjoying candle light dinners, long phone conversations and that she often stayed at his house. "I really care about her," he explained. "She is unique and has a great personality."

Rotem added that he would be a calming influence to balance her late-night drinking since the split. "I am clean and sober," he said. "I don't even drink coffee."

A source told the magazine: "He told her he doesn't like her partying. He wants her to take herself more seriously."
