Ex-teacher says Billie Piper is a liar

A former teacher and mentor of Billie Piper has said the star lied about her past in her autobiography.

Sylvia Young, a top children's drama tutor, described claims of lack of discipline and rife anorexia at her Sylvia Young Theatre School as “rubbish”.

She said Piper was one of her favourite pupils and expressed concern about why the singer-turned-actress is making the accusations.

“I’m surprised she’s come out with all this rubbish," commented Young. “Why would she need to lie about our school to sell a book? I really wonder if something’s wrong. I’m very worried about Billie.”

The teacher, who is herself mentioned in the book, named Growing Pains, added: “I do feel she’s lied quite a lot. It’s very hurtful. As regards what’s written about the school, much of it seems poisonous and largely fiction. I am genuinely bewildered.”
