Preston "would have hit" Amstell

Preston has explained why he stormed off the set of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, claiming he was on the verge of punching cheeky host Simon Amstell.

The Ordinary Boys singer left the studio mid-way through recording after Amstell mockingly read an extract from the autobiography of Preston's wife Chantelle Houghton.

"If that was in any other situation I would have hit him and knocked him out," Preston, 24, told Radio 1. "Obviously I didn't want to resort to those sorts of things, so I just had to remove myself from the situation."

He added: "If I'd had to look at his snotty little public schoolboy failed-career face, I would have hit him. He's got no charm."

The episode will air on BBC Two on January 27.
