Confirmed: Timberlake and Diaz split

A-list power couple Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz have split after three years together, the pair has confirmed.

A joint statement issued Thursday finally ended months of speculation that Timberlake, 25, and Diaz, 34, had called it quits.

"It has always been our preference not to comment on the status of our relationship," read the statement "but, out of respect for the time we've spent together, we feel compelled to do so now, in light of recent speculation and the number of inaccurate stories that are being reported by the media.

"We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship and have done so mutually and as friends, with continued love and respect for one another."

The couple, who appear together in this summer's third Shrek movie, began dating after meeting at the Kids Choice Awards in April 2003.
