A Russian teenager has been sentenced to 117 days in prison for stalking actress Hilary Duff.

18-year-old Maksim Miakovsky was also ordered to serve five years' probation after pleading no contest to the stalking charge.

Duff - known for her role in Disney Channel show Lizzie McGuire - sought a protection order against Miakovsky in October last year. Court papers filed in November alleged that he had planned to purchase a weapon and "engage in dramatic actions to get her attention."
