Ryan Phillippe has spoken out for the first time about his split from Reese Witherspoon.
The couple have been separated since last August, and have two children together - Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3.
Describing the period as the "most difficult" of his life, Phillippe revealed his heartache was compounded by the constant media intrusion into his personal business.
"It's unfortunate when you have kids, but I signed up for this and have to deal with it," he admitted. "I don't read the magazines or watch the shows. It's hard when people follow me to my kid's school. This is the most difficult time in my life."
